    Description

1909-11 T206 Old Mill Christy Mathewson, Dark Cap SGC 80 EX-NM 6. Christy Mathewson was a man who was defined by so much more than baseball. "The Christian Gentleman" was an upstanding role model and one of the greatest to ever grace the mound. Mathewson captured the NL's pitching Triple Crown in 1905 and again in 1908 - leading the circuit in wins, strikeouts and earned run average. Offered is an "Old Mill Cigarettes" T206 of Mathewson, his "Dark Cap" pose. The illustration is bold and perfectly centered complimented by a frosty white frame. There is mild corner wear and a stain in the lower right border. Graded SGC 80 EX-NM 6. The SGC census shows fourteen confirmed Old Mill backs of this pose. This is the highest rated example.
