    Description

1907 Wolverine News Ty Cobb, Batting SGC 40 VG 3. Tyrus Raymond Cobb was one of the most feared athletes of his era and it took him little time to establish that reputation. Of the numerous opportunities collectors have to acquire an image of the legendary "Ty" Cobb, his first appearance is still debated. We do know the Wolverine News post card series appeared in that pivotal 1907 season. Although coming so soon in his professional career, this full-figure batting portrait of Cobb captures that inner fire and steely determination that some say was his greatest asset--or his greatest demon. The technical grade of SGC 40 VG 3 is the result of a crease in the lower, left quadrant affecting a card that is otherwise your typical excellent condition collectible. An added bonus is this copy was never used as intended for mail correspondence.
