1902-11 W600 Sporting Life Fred Clarke (Street, Type 1) PSA VG+ 3.5 - Very Rare Green Mount! This is an extra special lot in that it is only the second time we have the opportunity to offer this extremely rare W600 variant to our bidders. Heritage sold a W600 Green mount of Lajoie for $60,000 in May, 2017. The hobby is indebted to the Sporting Life (and Carl Horner of course) for producing these spectacular treasures. The central images of these large and impressive cabinets unarguably hold a highly elevated level of glamour and desirability. The mount is a "Type 1" format utilized in 1902 and carries the 1902 date. This would predate the E107 issue making this his rookie card debut with only Sporting News paper premium dating earlier. Fred Clarke was a Hall of Fame outfielder/manager for over twenty seasons and a part of four pennant-winning teams and '09 World Champions.

Graded PSA VG+ 3.5. The total PSA and SGC population for Clarke in street clothes is just four. This is the only example we are aware of with the unique green card mount. The blank reverse is free of any pencil/ink marks common for these premiums. Clarke's portrait is crisp and problem-free. This is a significant addition to any W600 collection instantly bringing said collection to elite status.
