1888 N29 Allen & Ginter William Ewing PSA Mint 9 - Pop Two, None Higher. Often argued to be the finest player of the 19th century, William "Buck" Ewing joined Cap Anson as top vote-getters from that century to gain admittance to the Baseball Hall of Fame at its 1939 grand opening. We find him here at dead center of his illustrious 18-year career, and at the height of his considerable ball-playing powers, in his Giants jersey, a team he would help lead to World Series Championships in 1888 and 1889. Arguably one of the most versatile baseball players of his era, Ewing played every position at one time or another. He was a skilled batsmen who retired with a .303 lifetime average having clubbed 71 home runs. Once on base, he stole over 350 bases. He was a natural choice to be included within a sports card promotion titled, "The World's Champions."

Graded PSA Mint 9! Of the seventy-six total examples graded by PSA to date and is one of two cards earning "highest grade" status.. With just the slightest variation from the previous year, Allen & Ginter scored again with another terrific issue of sporting champions. The year that this card rolled off the press and found its way into a can of leafy tobacco is now over 125 in the past. Considering this card depicts mere traces of wear on the corner tips we must assume few, if any human hands have actually touched this card. His portrait stands tall in amazing contrast to the bright white backdrop. Color quality is almost beyond compare. We can't imagine a nicer example ever being discovered. Of the almost 1,200 total N29 cards on the PSA census exactly 1% have earned a "Mint" rating.
