1887 N172 Old Judge "Spotted Tie" Jack Nelson SGC 80 EX/NM 6. Pose #341-1 in PBCG&C. Jack Nelson's career began in the pre-1872 era who saw his finest years with the New York Mets, including the 1884 pennant winners. When this very rare (putting it lightly) "Spotted Tie" portrait from the N172 series came out Nelson's tenure in the game was about to end. We should note that for the Old Judge set collector this is the only appearance "Candy" makes so don't let this well deserving 80 EX/NM 6 example pass on lightly. The image is nice with a pleasing level of detail and a full range of values.
