1887 N172 Old Judge Kid Gleason SGC 80 EX/NM 6. William J. "Kid" Gleason is best remembered as the manager of the infamous Black Sox in 1919. However, he played 22 years in the major leagues; including eight as a pitcher. He won 138 games, winning 38 in 1890. As a hitter, he had nearly 2,000 hits and twice led the league in sacrifice hits. This is an amazing example of a 122 year old collectible. Slight blunting on one corner and staining on the reverse are forgiven as one gazes into Gleason's amazing full figure image that would be virtually impossible to find a better photo of. Technically Excellent to Mint condition, visually unique and impressive.
