    1887 N172 Old Judge Cap Anson (Street Clothes) PSA NM-MT 8 - The Highest Graded Example in the Hobby, Pop One! There are a multitude of great star of our National Pastime, he was the first and what a standard of quality he set for generations to come. Anson debuted at age nineteen with the 1871 Rockford Forest City squad of the National Association. For twenty-seven years he donned a Major League uniform prior to his 1897 retirement. He is not just any member of the 3,000 Hits Club, he was the founding member. His handlebar mustache and steely gaze captivates the viewer of this quintessential Victorian era issue and serves as a foreshadowing of another alike personality that would have just as great an impact some 20 years later.

    The " Old Judge" edition is one of the most comprehensive tobacco card productions of the 19th Century with a sports theme. Featuring an array of over 500 athletes, none are more sought after than Chicago's 1st Baseman Adrian "Cap" Anson. Cards which bear his portrait are among his best cardboard keepsakes. His status was well established by 1887 which make it curious Anson has but two poses in the N172 series, this his street clothes portrait with the "A. C. Anson, Chicagoes" caption. A supremely important relic, this card is certain to reign as the crown jewel of even the finest early baseball card collections.

    Graded PSA NM-MT 8. This one of only fifteen examples of Anson's N172 "No Arms Visible" pose or "Street Clothes" and not a single example has been assessed at this level or higher.
