The Finest Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Dual-Signed Baseball on Earth. They couldn't have been any more different. The Babe was loud and gregarious and denied himself none of the sensual pleasures of life, wolfing down hot dogs in the dugout between at-bats and hitting the town at night for a healthy dose of wine, women and song. Gehrig was quiet and unassuming, unfailing in his duties to the team but quick to throw on a pair of sneakers and sprint to his car parked several blocks from the Stadium when the game was over to beat the traffic back home to his quiet life in New Rochelle.

Only in their brilliance in the batter's box did their personalities intersect, each slugging home runs at a pace comparable to other teams' entire outputs in the early years of their pinstriped partnership. Together they formed the first great Yankee dynasty, sharing four American League pennants and three World Championships in their decade together.

Their unique skill set and a pair of joint barnstorming tours made Ruth and Gehrig a common target for dual-signed baseballs, but here we present the finest we've ever encountered, a red and black stitched "Harwood Official League" sphere all but untouched by the passing of eight decades. The Babe claims his standard sweet spot position in 9+/10 black fountain pen ink, with Gehrig equally fine on the eastern panel in blue. The horsehide that provides their home is only lightly and evenly aged, providing a luxurious, creamy tone.

Ruth and Gehrig have enjoyed a steady upward trajectory in the collecting market since its earliest days, but the steepest ascent has been at the top end of the quality scale. Those with an eye to investment potential would be well advised to give this lot serious consideration, as would those who simply reject anything but the best. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
