Signed 1997 Perez-Steele Great Moments #98 Richie Ashburn PSA/DNA Mint 9. At first assigning the estimate for this card seemed like some pie-in-the-sky dream number proving long hours do in fact impair judgement. Perez-Steele "Great Moments" cards are relatively easy to find and are a popular medium for autograph enthusiasts. Richie Ashburn was a solid talent who played from 1949 to 1962. He was a steady hitter, just not the type to get 200 hits a season or one who hit 40 home runs. He wasn't inducted into the Hall of Fame until 1995. His Perez-Steele card was produced in 1997. By then Ashburn was 70-years old and passed away later in the same year on Sept. 9, 1997. This made finding a signed copy of this card close to impossible. This particular example displays a solid blue marker signature in a NM-MT card, serial numbered 1,567/5,000. The vast majority of autographed Great Moments sets are missing one signed card, and this is that card. Encapsulated PSA DNA Mint 9.
