    Description

Signed 1963 Topps Roberto Clemente #540 PSA/DNA NM 7. Roberto Clemente was heroic both on and off the baseball diamond. A sad irony is he lost his life during one of his humanitarian missions. One can only imagine what his final statistics might have been like had he not died at age thirty-eight. As it was, his credits include twelve All-Star appearances (fifteen total games), one MVP, four-time batting champion, twelve-time Gold Glove winner, and two-time World Series champion. Perhaps it would have been Clemente who first approached Ty Cobb's hit count. Regardless, he left his indelible mark on baseball and society as a whole, and is one of the few athletes who deserves the title of hero. The offered 1963 Topps #540 card has been signed in blue ball point pen along the left side in a large, flowing signature, graded PSA/DNA NM 7. The bulk of the autograph is in the white of his jersey or the light blue background, offering excellent contrast, with just a couple letters signed over the black sleeves. The card itself grades EX+ with no creases or major defects.
