    Description

1987 Sandy Koufax Signed Perez-Steele Great Moments #16, PSA/DNA NM 7. "There are two times in my life the hair on my arms has stood up," reported Al Campanis, the Dodgers scout who made one of the most significant pitching discoveries in the sport's history. "The first time I saw the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the first time I saw Sandy Koufax throw a fastball." Though the University of Cincinnati southpaw would pitch seven seasons in the Majors before leading the National League in anything other than wild pitches, Koufax would develop into arguably the most dominant pitcher of any era, and come to epitomize the notion of "going out on top," closing his short but brilliant career with five consecutive seasons atop the Earned Run Average leaderboard, claiming three Cy Young Awards and an MVP in the process.

This lot is perfect for the collector trying to put the finishing touches on a mid-to-high-grade signed Perez-Steele Great Moments set. Koufax has penned his signature in solid blue sharpie along the lower edge of card number 16 which has been graded a "Near Mint 7" by PSA. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, NEAR MINT 7.
