1954 Frank Baker Handwritten Signed Postcard. One of four lots consigned to this auction by the daughter of a close friend of Baker during his retirement in Trappe, Maryland, and a pallbearer at the legendary slugger's funeral. The presented postcard stands as evidence of the friendship, as the $100,000 Infielder writes from Sacramento, asking "How is everything in Trappe?" before reporting on the crops being farmed in the region (Baker was a farmer in his retirement). He closes with a "Kindest Regards, Frank Baker" in the same 9/10 blue ink that characterizes the entirety of the writing. The postcard exhibits expected handling wear but nothing that distracts the eye. Included is Baker's personal black and white Hall of Fame plaque postcard, which is deeply toned and wrinkled, but still highly desirable considering its original ownership. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
