1951 Mickey Mantle Handwritten Signed Postcard. In just the third week of his Major League career, and visiting Comiskey Park for the first time, a young Mantle sent this postcard home to friends in Commerce, Oklahoma from the Yankees' hotel on the banks of Lake Michigan. He writes, "Hello Ike, I am in Chicago and thought I would drop a few lines to you. I guess you are getting ready to graduate about now. Tell your dad I will come over this winter & fix the house. Tell everyone I said hello, Mick." According to the included letter from our consignor, a relation of the postcard's addressee, the house repair to which Mantle refers is damage he inflicted with a batted baseball. The postcard exhibits typical handling wear and a center vertical fold line, but all ink survives at a 10/10 boldness. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
