1940's Mel Ott Signed Postcard, PSA/DNA NM-MT 8. The third member of the elite 500 home run club, Mel Ott was the home run king following Babe Ruth, along with Jimmie Foxx. Ott led the league in home runs six times, while Foxx led four times. Ott tried to push his career in 1946 and 1947, looking for one more solid season to also join the 3,000 Hit Club, but just didn't have any gas left in the tank. Still, he finished with 2,876 hits and a .304 average to accompany his 511 home runs. The offered lot is a postcard signed by Ott in consistent blue ink. The verso was not postally used, although a 1939 Baseball Centennial stamp (canceled) was affixed at some point. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, NM-MT 8.
