DescriptionTed Lyons Signed Photograph Lot of 4.
Ted Lyons didn't throw a single inning in the minor leagues before making his debut with the Chicago White Sox in 1923. A true workhorse throughout his career, Lyons averaged 262 innings pitched per season - in 1942 (his final full season) the 41-year old righty started and completed twenty games to the tune of a 2.10 ERA before joining the Marine Corps. and serving in the Pacific. Yankee manager Joe McCarthy had said, "If [he] pitched for the Yankees, he would have won over 400 games", but the lowly Sox never allowed him the chance to pitch in the postseason and he finished his career with 260 victories. Lyons was inducted into the Hall of fame on his eighth ballot in 1955.
Offered are a quartet of 8x10" photographs signed by Lyons. Four different mediums were used to sign the images: blue sharpie, blue felt tip, blue ballpoint, and black steel tip. Each shows light wear throughout. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
