Circa 1930 Bobby Jones Signed Original Photograph Display.
Bobby Jones ruled the links and was the game's biggest draw in the 1920's and '30's. Golf's ultimate sportsman, Jones is the central figure on two of the three vintage photographs incorporated into this 20x30.25" display. Jones and famous golf scribe O.B. Keeler signed the middle photo in bold fountain ink. "With much affection To Tom Paine Bobby Jones" is signed by the iconic golfer. The "Bo" in Bobby is a bit lighter than the rest of the autograph. Keeler chipped in with the following salutation: "To Tom Paine - the "Third Musketeer" with the devoted affection of his comrades in arms O.B. Keeler."

The larger photograph (10x13") on top is possibly the finest image of Jones. The golf legend is at the majestic pinnacle of his powers in 1930, the year he cemented his legacy as the world's finest linksman with a sweep of golf's "Grand Slam." He poses with the gleaming treasures of those wins, the victory cups of the British Amateur, the British Open, the U.S. Open and the American Amateur. At center is a fifth trophy, the Walker Cup, a biennial contest pitting the best American amateurs against those of the British Isles. One must remember that photos of this size were quite expensive to create at this time in history, and it's certain that only a tiny handful of this photo would have been printed, and only for noteworthy recipients.

The lowermost image shows Jones being carried in while a few of his trophies are also receiving special attention. The Atlanta Terminal Station provides the background. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
