1945 "Detroit Free Press" Baseball Photograph. Amazing action shot courtesy of the Detroit Free Press dates from July 1945 and depicts a play at the plate between the Detroit Tigers' Paul Richards and Philadelphia Athletics catcher and five-time All-Star Buddy Rosar. The ball got by Rosar, allowing Richards to score the go-ahead run in a Tigers 5-3 victory. In the background, All-Star second baseman Eddie Mayo lends his emphatic support. The year this photo was snapped, the Tigers went on to defeat the Chicago Cubs for the franchise's second of its four World Series wins. The 11x14" print has been framed and matted to final dimensions of 14x17". It must be noted that upon close inspection, a nickel-sized touch-up can be seen in the lower right corner of the photo.
