    Description

1930's Tony Lazzeri Signed Photograph Display. Although his statistics (.292 lifetime, 1,840 hits) don't scream "Hall of Famer," the part Tony Lazzeri played in the New York Yankees dynasty of the 1920's and 1930's helped propel him into baseball's elite club. Playing for the Yankees from 1926 through 1937, "Poosh 'Em Up" Tony was a key cog in five World Series victories. He was a model of consistency in getting close to .300, 150 hits, 15 home runs and 90 RBI each season, on average. Lazzeri was part of the famed 1927 Yankees' "Murderer's Row" and the first player to hit two grand slams in one game.

Passing away young in 1946 at the age of just 42, there is still argument as to whether the fall that caused his death was due to a heart attack or an epileptic seizure. The result for collectors is that Lazzeri autographs are quite difficult to find and always in high demand. The offered piece is a beautiful framed display with an 11x13" photo (unsigned), and a 4x5" signed vintage photograph. With his name appearing at the bottom, it is possible this photo was actually a premium issue of some type. Lazzeri has signed in 7.5/10 fountain pen. Overall dimensions of the item are 20.5x23."
