    Description

1930's Charles A. "Chief" Bender Signed Photograph. Unquestionably the finest Chief Bender signed photo we've ever encountered, the presented specimen features both a spectacular image and the most charming of personal inscriptions. The Native American superstar pitcher for Connie Mack's first great Philadelphia Athletics dynasty is captured warming up before a game in the club's 1909-13 uniform style. His 9/10 black fountain pen ink inscription reads, "To Heff, In days of youth, Sincerely yours, 'Chief' CA Bender." The 7x9" photo appears to have been carefully trimmed of its borders, with only light edge wear to note in terms of apparent wear. Verso features stamping from "Photo-News Department, American Press Association." Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
