1930's and 1942 Chicago Cubs Signed Team Photographs Lot of 3. Pre-war Cubbies history is showcased here with three appealing black-and-white photos of Cubs squads from 1935, 1938 and 1942. All three present in EX/MT condition, with additional observations provided below. The 1935 Cubs Pennant Winners photo is 8.5-by-11 inches, mounted on a foam core sheet 1/4-inch larger. There is a tear near the center top which hardly detracts from the presentation on the foam core board. Included on the photo are thirteen ballpoint signatures, including Root, Klein, Hartnett, Herman, Grimm, Cavarretta, Demaree, English and French. The 1938 team picture, attributed to International News, is the same size, though mounted on a conventional board with larger two-tier matting that extends the size to 13-by-11.25 inches. It features three signatures: Cavarretta, Jurges and Garbark. The sepia-toned 1942 composite team picture is actually a collage of individual portraits, with twenty-four signed. The 13-by-11-inch image is attractively two-tiered matted to 16-by-13.5 inches, mounted on a foam core backing. Black and blue signatures of 8/10 to 9/10 overall strength, include Jimmie Foxx, Cavarretta, Cuyler, Hack, Nicholson, Passeau, Hernandez, Bithorn, Dallessandro, Errickson, Fleming, Gilbert, Lee, McCullough, Merullo, Mooty, Olsen, Pressnell, Russell, Scheffing, Spalding, Stringer, Sturgeon and Wilson. Along the upper border, a handwritten notation of "Tot with Chicago Cubs 1942" suggests that the piece once belonged to knuckleballer Tot Pressnell. The 1942 photo comes with LOA's from PSA/DNA and James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. From the Roger Marth Collection.
