    Description

Carl Yastrzemski Signed Opie Otterstad Artist Proof Lithograph. While art is certainly subject to interpretation, this gorgeous Opie Otterstad artist's proof lithograph offers many "Easter eggs" that need no interpretation. Hidden in the image on this 20x28" print are highlights of Carl Yastrzemski's career and commemorations of the All-Star Game and Triple Crown winners. The inning-by-inning score represents Yaz's three-run game-tying home run from 1975's All-Star Game. On the scoreboard is information regarding every All-Star Game while Yaz was playing, between 1961 and 1983.

The Triple Crown tribute is found in the background of the artwork. Above the Green Monster, ghosted images appear for AL Triple Crown Winners Nap Lajoie (1901), Ty Cobb (1909), Jimmie Foxx (1933), Lou Gehrig (1934), Mickey Mantle (1956) and Frank Robinson (1966). The final winner (prior to Miguel Cabrera recently joining the club) is Ted Williams, who is ghosted into the Green Monster itself, celebrating his double achievement of the award. Yaz himself, of course, is front and center in the artwork, taking a knee in the on deck circle during game action.

This Artist's Proof version is limited to just eighty copies and is number "72/80 A.P." It features a perfect 10 Otterstad signature in the bottom right corner, along with a fantastic 10/10 autograph of Yaz in the bottom center margin. Overall dimensions are 29x35" with double matting and museum quality glass. The frame is in outstanding condition with no obvious chips or defects. This is a ready-to-hang presentation piece worthy of any office or sports themed room, featuring artwork from one of the premier sports artists of the 20th Century. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA. Third-party shipping required.
