1955 Roger Maras (Maris) Signed High School Yearbook. The hero of the 1961 home run race passed away in 1985, just before the memorabilia boom began, leaving the hobby deep in the red in the supply/demand accounting of his autograph. But here we present a representation that distinguishes itself even within that paltry population, applied to the 1952 yearbook of a classmate at Maris' alma mater Shanley High School (Fargo, ND). The two-time American League MVP was born Roger Maras, but changed the spelling in 1955 for reasons alternately ascribed to family feuding and taunting from peers that changed the pronunciation to "Mary-ass." This rare early format, preceded by a "Lots of Luck" salutation, utilizes that original spelling. His ink rates 8.5/10 and the hardcover yearbook is loose at the spine but otherwise solid and complete, and full of autographs from Maris' classmates. Just the second "Maras" autograph we've handled in our history. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
