1948 Oakland Oaks Team Signed Sheet from the Casey Stengel Collection. One of the most famous squads in minor league history was the '48 Oaks, who roared to their first Pacific Coast League pennant in twenty-one years under the solid guidance of Stengel. Casey's remarkable leadership of this team is directly responsible for his placement in the managerial role of the New York Yankees in 1949, and the rest, as they say, is history. Almost never seen in the hobby, and certainly never from such a noteworthy source, is this pamphlet issued in celebration of the team's long overdue Championship, signed on the rear cover by all twenty-eight members of the team in legitimately pristine 10/10 blue ink. Heading the list, appropriately, is Stengel himself, joined by second baseman and future Yankee skipper Billy Martin. Also present are Hall of Fame catcher Ernie Lombardi and Dodger star Harry "Cookie" Lavagetto. A light corner crease at upper left does nothing to detract. Undoubtedly the finest '48 Oaks sheet in existence, for myriad reasons. LOA from PSA/DNA.
