1939 William "Cy" Perkins Signed Puerto Rican League Contract. Though Satchel Paige had been battery mates with Negro League legends like Josh Gibson, Double Duty Radcliffe and Quincy Trouppe, his favorite catcher was Bill Perkins who, according to Paige, "handled a pitcher like nobody's business." Presented is an incredibly scarce contract securing Perkins' services for winter ball down in Puerto Rico, with the star of such historic Negro League teams as the Homestead Grays, Philadelphia Stars and Baltimore Elite Giants signing his consent with 10/10 black fountain pen ink. While Negro League autographs tend to be challenging regardless, Perkins' murder in 1948 complicated the hunt for his signature even further. You'll be hard pressed to find a superior specimen. Contract exhibits original storage folds and punch holes, minor staining and general handling wear but is otherwise solid and complete. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
