Description
1939 John Evers Signed First Day Cover. A beautiful crossover piece of postal and sport collecting, this First Day Cover cachet is a hand-tinted nod to Abner Doubleday for the baseball centennial. Using the centennial baseball stamp, the artwork depicts Doubleday himself, along with Doubleday Field and the "National Base Ball Museum." This is catalogued as a "United States #855-15 Cobbett Blue Goose Cacheted First Day Cover." The cachet has been signed in strong 9/10 ink by Johnny Evers, Hall-of-Fame member and one-third of the "Tinker to Evers to Chance" double play combination. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
