1912 Jim Thorpe & Duke Kahanamoku Signed Olympics Banquet Program. The two greatest athletes representing the United States at the Stockholm Games provide flawless pencil signatures on a program issued at the New York City banquet honoring the returning Olympians. Thorpe's Gold Medals in the Pentathlon and Decathlon would serve as a springboard for his professional football and baseball careers, while Kahanamoku's Gold Medal in the 100m Freestyle greatly increased the notoriety of the man today best remembered as the father of modern surfing. Joining them is lesser known Gold Medalist, shot putter Patrick McDonald. The four-page program shows wear consistent with close to a century of life, with a horizontal center fold, edge wear and mild paper loss. None of these defects infringe upon the signatures in the slightest, however, and do little to detract from the aesthetics of the piece. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
