Important team sheet features two coveted rarities

1912 Cincinnati Reds Team Signed Sheet with Hank O'Day & Eddie Grant. Bronze plaques make the two key signatures on this early team sheet a true treasure of baseball history. Hank O'Day's plaque hangs on the wall at Cooperstown, an honor bestowed just this year as the long-serving National League umpire joins Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert and nineteenth century star third baseman Deacon White in posthumous induction. Grant's plaque is no longer on public display, but held residence for decades in the deepest recesses of the Polo Grounds' center field, honoring the only Major Leaguer killed in World War I combat. The former third baseman for the Reds and Giants lost his life to an exploding shell in the Argonne Forest as he led an expedition in a four-day search for The Lost Battallion.

Each signs to voice his support of a gentleman named George Hoskins as team trainer for Cincinnati upon this single page of team letterhead directed to Reds president August Herrmann. The full roster of signers:

Chas. McDonald, Bob Bescher, Geo. Suggs, JC Benton, Arthur Fromme, Armando Marsans, John B. McLean, Henry O'Day, RC Hoblitzell, Frank Harter, John Batets, Jas. Esmond, Arthur Phelan, Eugene Moore, Henry Peitz, Thomas A. Clarke, RJ Egan, MF Mitchell, Edw. L. Grant, Henry Severeid.

Signature quality ranges from 7/10 to 9+/10, with the two key autographs at the top of that range. The page, dated "Sept. 3, 1912," exhibits some mild scattered toning and original storage folds but presents very well. LOA from Kevin Keating. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
