    Description

William E. "Dummy" Hoy Cut Signature. Standing a mere five feet five inches and despite being deaf and mute due to a bout with meningitis as a baby, William "Dummy" Hoy was one of the better players of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Hoy is also responsible for creating the hand signals that umpires use to signal balls, strikes, outs, foul balls, etc. Here we offer his tough signature on a 2x7" section clipped from a newspaper. Hoy lived to be over 99 years old and was the oldest surviving former major leaguer at the time of his death. LOA from PSA/DNA.
