1961 Jackie Robinson Signed Letter to Dodgers General Manager Ending Relationship with the Team. "For whatever it is worth, you must know that I have been disappointed because a friendship I once felt has deteriorated," begins an occasionally scathing letter from Robinson to Dodgers general manager Buzzie Bavasi, a lengthy missive typed on two pages of "Chock Full o' Nuts" letterhead, Robinson's post-baseball employer. The post-war game's most significant figure alludes to a frosty relationship with Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley, writing, "It mattered little to me that O'Malley was such a man that he resented anyone having a high regard for another individual because he disliked him. It mattered little to me that it went beyond this even to the extent of resenting my efforts for equality. It did matter to me, Buzzie, that you questioned my integrity and did so to the press."

Finally, Robinson makes the stunning claim that the Dodgers maliciously purged files related to him from their archives, writing, "I felt an organization like yours must be pretty small if records were destroyed because of personality differences. I merely wanted to make it a complete break if this was the desire of the Dodgers organization." As a "Dear John" letter from Robinson to the franchise that saved the soul of the game through their partnership, this rates among the most significant pieces relating to the racial pioneer ever made available to the collecting hobby. Condition is pristine short of original mailing folds, with a 10/10 blue ink "Jackie" at the close. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
