    Description

1954 Ty Cobb Handwritten Signed Four-Page Letter To Former Teammate Archie Yelle. Lengthy letter to former Tigers teammate Archie Yelle centers mainly around Cobb's quite adamant request that the recipient visit him at his Lake Tahoe home for fishing and boating. Most intriguing is an apparent reference to Cobb's drunk driving arrest in 1954. "I sure got a tough deal in Placerville," he writes. "I suppose you saw it in the papers, please believe me they surely gave me a very wrong deal and sometimes I wish I had never been publicly known and carried the name I do." All four pages are on individual sheets (no writing on front and back of a page) and rendered in Cobb's preferred green ink with 9+/10 boldness. The letter closes with "Sincerely, Ty." Pages exhibit original mailing folds but no other issues of note. Mailing envelope, unsigned by written in Cobb's hand, is included. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
