    Description

1952 Del Webb Signed Typed Letter to Charles Comiskey II. In certain parts of the country, the name "Del Webb" instantly brings to mind the real estate development mogul whose company continues to create massive housing communities in the Southwest. During this era, however, Webb was also a co-owner of the New York Yankees. In this typed letter, Webb invites Charles Comiskey II to a dinner at his home being held for all baseball club owners. Signed by Webb in 10/10 ink and in Near Mint to Mint condition with typical vertical folds. Includes original mailing envelope. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.

    The Comiskey Collection

It's a name that remains synonymous with Chicago White Sox baseball, and one properly immortalized in Cooperstown bronze. The collection that appears in the lots that follow spans six decades of the team's history, beginning with what may be the earliest ChiSox document in private hands, and continuing on to feature a wide assortment of material from sons J. Louis and Charles A. Comiskey II, who carried on the ownership of the club following their father's passing. Many of the key moments in team history are memorialized, from the team's first World Series appearance in 1906, to the famous World Tour of 1913-14, to the club's eventual sale to another Hall of Fame executive, Bill Veeck, in 1959. All items were stored for decades in the attic of Charles Junior's home before they were acquired by our consignor, and they make their auction debut here.
