    Description

1924 Barney Dreyfuss Signed Letter to National League President John Heydler. The posthumous 2008 Hall of Famer and owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates writes to N.L. president Heydler to protest a game played against the Philadelphia Phillies. Dreyfuss contends that a ball hit by Pirates pitcher Johnny Morrison should have been ruled a home run, and that the umpires' failure to do so had cost his team the game. He requests that the game's records be thrown out and the contest replayed, signing at the close in 9/10 black fountain pen ink. The typed letter on team letterhead exhibits original mailing folds but no other distractions of note beyond a couple small (and easily removable) pencil notations. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
