1808 Napoleon Bonaparte Handwritten & Signed Letter. Perhaps the most important figure of post-Renaissance Europe, Napoleon Bonaparte was a brilliant military tactician whose political ambitions led to a reign as both First Consul and emperor of France from 1799 to 1815. Written in French to his son Eugene, the handwritten and signed letter offered here reads, in part:

"My son, I have named the major that you proposed to be commander in Dalmatia [Croatia]. I would have liked him to come to Venice but it would not have been wise. I think he should make the voyage by sea because it is not desirable if he comes by land. Bayonne, 27 June 1808. Yours affectionately, Napoleon."

Boldly signed "Napoleon" in a flourishing hand. Very fine condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
