    Description

Late 1920's Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball. Magnificent example of the most collectible dual-signed ball in the hobby provides all the bells and whistles a serious hobbyist requires. First, the autographs are applied with wonderfully bold black fountain pen ink, surviving at a conservative rating of 9/10 to this day. Next, the placement of the autographs, with Gehrig just below Ruth's sweet spot offering, makes for ideal display. And, finally, the medium is an OAL (Barnard) ball, the model used during the pair's most celebrated seasons (1927-31), sporting the wonderful blue and red stitching that would be discontinued shortly before Ruth's departure from the Yankees. As an added thrill, a couple of deep bruises on panels well clear of the autographs suggest that this ball saw Major League action prior to its signing, leaving us to wonder if they may have resulted from a meeting with one of these elite sluggers' bats, and later with an outfield bleacher seat. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication. Guide Value or Estimate: $8,000 - $12,000.
