2001 Roger Clemens All-Star Weekend Jersey Inscribed & Signed to Brian McNamee. In a three thousand lot auction packed to the brim with legends, and representing an enormous swath of athletic endeavor, this humble little lot may prove to be the most provocative and discussed of all. The green mesh jersey was issued to the Rocket for the Seattle All-Star weekend, presumably worn by him as well during the lead-up to the actual game. But it's the inscription on verso that will have people talking, and debating whether or not to read between the lines: "Mac, Thanks for all your time and hard work! Making us all better in what we do! Rocket, Roger Clemens, CY5."

As we all know, McNamee was Clemens' closest training associate, and would become the leading witness for the prosecution in the government case against Clemens relating to performance enhancing drug use. Though Clemens was ultimately acquitted of perjury charges subsequent to his official denials, a cloud of suspicion still hangs over this most decorated pitcher of the modern era and throws his otherwise guaranteed future Hall of Fame induction into question. The jersey exhibits minimal to no wear, announcing "American" on chest and "Clemens 22" on verso. All-Star Game and Yankees patches are affixed to left and right sleeves respectively. Tail is tagged "Majestic Athletic Authentic Collection [size] 50." Further "Majestic" tagging inside collar. Clemens' inscription rates 9+/10. Letter of provenance from Brian McNamee. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

‡ The owner placed a late bid on this unreserved lot and repurchased it, subject to applicable commission.
