1970's Turkey Stearnes Signed Index Card Display. He earned his nickname for his unusual running style, and his reputation as one of the greatest hitters of all time for his three seasons besting .400 in average, and seven seasons leading the Negro Leagues in home runs. Here we find a blank 3x5" card blessed by an inscription and signature in Stearnes' childlike scrawl: "Turkey Stearnes, Centerfielder of Detroit Stars 1923." The card is attractively matted and framed with a Perez-Steele postcard, a yellow Hall of Fame plaque, and an 8x10" modern print of a photo of Stearnes with teammates in the 1920's. Total dimensions of the display are 18x26". LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
