    Description

Extraordinary Fred Snodgrass Signed Letter Detailing Events of the Final Game of the 1912 World Series. The man who spent the last six decades of his life haunted by his crucial error in the 1912 World Series attempts to set the record straight in this remarkable play-by-play of the decisive eighth game. "I did drop a fly ball. There's no doubt about that," he begins. Later, he addresses the error directly: "Murray called for it first, but as center fielder I had preference over left and right, so there'd never be a collision. I yelled that I'd take it and waved Murray off, and--well--I dropped the darn thing." He closes, "I did drop that fly ball, and that did put what turned out to be the tying run on base, but that's a long way from 'losing a World Series.' However, the facts don't seem to matter." Closing signature is 9+/10. Two typed pages exhibit original mailing folds, otherwise fine. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
