    Description

Early 1980's Roger Maris (Sweet Spot) & Mickey Mantle Dual Signed Baseball. Move over, Mickey! Even though it was Roger Maris who emerged the victor in the celebrated home run race of 1961, it tends to be Mantle who takes sweet spot honors on the few and highly coveted spheres created in commemoration. Even on single signed baseballs, the humble outfielder from North Dakota tended to opt for side panel placement when honoring an autograph request, so this rare departure from standard operating procedure is cause for celebration. Maris' black ink offering rates 8/10 between the stitches of this OAL (Brown) orb, with the Mick perfectly positioned for display just below in equally strong blue ink. The leather exhibits the toning typical of 1980's official balls but does little to distract from the considerable appeal. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
