Circa 1940 Mel Ott Signed Photograph. It was Mel Ott, during his abysmal six seasons as player/manager for the New York Giants, that inspired Leo Durocher's famous quip, "Nice guys finish last." But while mighty Mel may have struggled as a skipper, he was magic at the plate, becoming the third man to club 500 homers in his Major League career. He appears in the uniform style of the 1940-41 Giants in this image, inscribed to the rather unfortunately named publicist Dick Hyman. Ott's blue fountain pen inscription rates 9/10, and the 7.5x9.5" photo is likewise in splendid condition. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
