    Description

Circa 1940 Hall of Famers Multi-Signed Baseball with Gehrig, Foxx. A handwritten notation on the baseball dated 1940 suggests the presented sphere was autographed over a number of years, as the marvelous Lou Gehrig inscription certainly must have been applied no later than 1939. He is joined by fellow Yankees Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio and Red Ruffing together on one panel, inscribing the ball, "To Butch, Best Wishes, Lou Gehrig." These Yankees rate a consistent 8/10 to 9/10 in strength. Another panel houses four Hall of Fame Red Sox: Joe Cronin, Jimmie Foxx, Ted Williams and Lefty Grove, these averaging 7/10 due to some chipping of the shellacked surface. Charlie Gehringer, Bob Feller and Hank Greenberg (average 6/10) round out the Cooperstown residents. Sixteen autographs in total. OAL (Harridge). A remarkable assembly of the era's top figures. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
