    Description

Circa 1940 Bill Klem Signed Baseball. He joined Tom Connolly as the first two umpires in the Baseball Hall of Fame, a development which would ultimately complicate the lives of generations of collectors to come as umpires have never been major targets for autograph seekers. Here we present an intriguing signed ball from the famed man in black, once a multi-signed sphere but professionally restored to the look of a single. Klem provides a notation to his 4/10 black fountain pen signature of "April 14, 1905," remembering his debut behind a Major League plate. The ONL (Frick) ball is shellacked and toned a tobacco shade, but presents quite nicely. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
