    Description

Circa 1940 Babe Ruth Signed Photograph. A handwritten letter of provenance from our consignor explains that this photograph was signed and presented to his grandfather, owner of a popular restaurant in Jamaica, Queens in the 1930's and 1940's named "Constantine's." The establishment was popular among race track fans returning from Jamaica, Aqueduct and Belmont, one of whom was the legendary Yankees slugger. During one of those visits, Ruth inscribed and signed this wonderful 8x10" studio shot, writing, "To my friend Jimmy Constantine From Babe Ruth." Black fountain pen ink rates 8/10, and the photo presents without any defects of any significant distraction, in its original frame. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
