Circa 1939 Walter Johnson Signed Black & White Hall of Fame Plaque Image. Let us begin this description by stressing that the offered piece is not technically an Artvue plaque as are the others presented in adjacent lots within this auction, but rather a clipping from the 1939 Hall of Fame Grand Opening magazine which has been subsequently backed with thin cardboard to approximate the appearance of an Artvue. Remember that Artvues were first issued in 1947, a year after Johnson's passing, and are impossible to acquire in autographed form as such. This is an entirely convincing alternative, however, and the black ink signature that fills the bottom white border of the "card" is as fine as can be. Absent any creasing, tearing or staining, the 4x6" piece itself also leaves no room for improvement. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.

I am completely satisfied, more to the point, absolutely ecstatic, about not only the proceeds but the wonderful professional manner every aspect of my little consignment was handled.
