Circa 1930 Jimmie Foxx Signed Photograph by George Burke. The cultured collector will find several reasons why the presented specimen rises above the rest of the small population of Foxx signed photos. First, the image derives from the studio of George Burke, the most significant and collectible photographer of Depression-era baseball. Next the image is printed to uncommon 8x10" dimensions, rather than the far more commonly seen 4x6" format. And finally, Foxx' black fountain pen ink is wonderfully bold, rating an average of 9/10, hampered only by an errant brush of his hand across the wet ink of a single word of his inscription. It reads, "Patsy, You are a swell guy, The best to you, Jimmie Foxx." Photo is stamped with Burke attribution on verso. Small bends at left corners and a bit of staining in the dark areas of the image are only apparent upon close inspection and certainly do little to distract the eye. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
