Circa 1927 "Murderer's Row" Signed Baseball with Ruth, Gehrig, Etc. Though originally coined by a New York sportswriter in 1918 to describe a Yankees batting order featuring Home Run Baker and Wally Pipp, today the term "Murderer's Row" is inextricably tied to the 1927 squad, the most dominant baseball offense of all time. "Those fellows not only beat you," said Senators first baseman Joe Judge after surrendering twenty-one runs to the Yanks in each half of an Independence Day doubleheader, "but they tear your hearts out." Consider the totals compiled by the four signers--Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri and Meusel--of this OAL (Johnson) sphere: 133 home runs and 544 RBI's! Numbers three through six of the 1927 Yankees batting order are the only autographs on this magical orb, and considering that Lazzeri rookied in 1926 and Ban Johnson vacated the American League presidency following the 1927 season, the odds are strong that the autographs date precisely to that greatest World Championship season. Lazzeri is light at 2.5/10, but the balance survive impressively at 7/10. Ball is clean and presents beautifully. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
