Circa 1920 "Babe" Ruth Single Signed Baseball. It's tough to believe that the illustrious career of George Herman Ruth began with the future Hall of Famer holding down a spot in the Boston Red Sox pitching rotation. Many balked at the prospect that Ruth make the transition to everyday player, with even such respected greats as Tris Speaker speculating that the move would be a detriment to the length of his career. But as the story goes, the Great Bambino's move to a regular batsman was one of the most epic transitions in the history of the game, bringing the long ball into play as a regular usable offensive weapon. Dating from that era of his early days as an everyday hitter we offer this exceptional sweet spot single, complete with the "Babe" with quotation that is customary of the time. Fountain ink signature appears on an official Reach American League baseball with dual-toned blue and red stitching that was used from 1916-19. A tremendous exemplar from the man considered the king of baseball collectibles, dating from a time when he was well on his way to becoming the planet's most popular figure. The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
