1971 Pie Traynor Signed Check - Cashed in Cooperstown After Induction Ceremonies. A day after partaking in the festivities during the '71 Hall of Fame Induction - which saw the enshrinement of Satchel Paige, Harry Hooper, Rube Marquard, and others - fellow inductee Pie Traynor must have needed some walking-around money for the shops in Cooperstown. He wrote, and cashed this $10 note at the Cooperstown branch of The National Commercial Bank and Trust Company.

The lower right corner of the 2.75x6.25" slip features an impeccable full name signature of Traynor. Dated August 10th, 1971. Mild wear exhibited throughout with perforations around the top and bottom edges. Reverse features a plethora of stampings, including that of the aforementioned Cooperstown branch bank, which also mentions the Otesaga Hotel and the Cooper Inn - both of which house the legends of the game during the induction celebration.

Considered by many to be the finest to man the hot corner in the pre-war era, Traynor would pass away seven months after this visit to Upstate New York. With the combination of all of these factors, this is - if not the finest - the most unique Traynor check to ever hit the market. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
