Description

1965 Gil Hodges Signed Check. When was the last time you saw a Gil Hodges signed check? Never? Then we're in agreement. Presented is (according to our database) the first Hodges signed check ever offered within a major auction, at least in the past decade. This one was issued a decade to the day after Hodges and his fellow Dodgers secured their only World Championship as Brooklyn representatives, drawn from the account for Hodges' bowling alley not far from the former site of Ebbets Field. Adding further appeal is the rare "Gilbert Hodges" signature variation, penned in 9/10 black ink at bottom right. The check is filled out in blue ink in another hand. The check appears to have never been cashed, which may explain its survival, and bears a tack hole at either side and three vertical fold lines from having been folded into quarters. None of these issues hinders aesthetics in any significant manner. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
