Description

1950's-90's Charles Comiskey II Signed Checks & Ephemera Lot of 43. This unusual lot of Charles Comiskey II's personal items also includes a pair of signed checks from 1979. Both signatures rate a 10/10. One of the more interesting items, also signed, is a 1991 Firearm Owner ID Card, signed in 9/10 quality. A pair of appointment books from 1957 and 1959 are partially used, and a beautiful American League annual pass to all grounds is also included. An Eternalite lighter with the White Sox logo emblazoned on the side includes the original instructions. A grouping of thirty-one snapshots shows candid shots of the Comiskey family. Finally, a batch of five documents are also included with the lot, including his receipt for a new 1952 Pontiac for $2,835. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

    The Comiskey Collection

It's a name that remains synonymous with Chicago White Sox baseball, and one properly immortalized in Cooperstown bronze. The collection that appears in the lots that follow spans six decades of the team's history, beginning with what may be the earliest ChiSox document in private hands, and continuing on to feature a wide assortment of material from sons J. Louis and Charles A. Comiskey II, who carried on the ownership of the club following their father's passing. Many of the key moments in team history are memorialized, from the team's first World Series appearance in 1906, to the famous World Tour of 1913-14, to the club's eventual sale to another Hall of Fame executive, Bill Veeck, in 1959. All items were stored for decades in the attic of Charles Junior's home before they were acquired by our consignor, and they make their auction debut here.
