    Description

1949 Smoky Joe Wood Signed Check Display. Since 1900, only 13 pitchers have won 30 or more games in a season and Smoky Joe Wood is one of them. His best year was in 1912 when he went 34-5 with a 1.91 ERA. Wood also tied the great Walter Johnson for posting 16 consecutive wins. To do so, Wood had to beat Johnson and did so on a 2-hit 1-0 victory.

The offered bank note is housed in a 14x22" frame with cream-colored matting and an oversized photograph of the hurler-turned outfielder. Dated June 2, 1949, moderate wear appears to be exhibited throughout and the check has been signed in solid blue ballpoint ink for the sum of $25. Please note that there is some chipping and scratching throughout various parts of the frame. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
